Just tamed Loque’nahak. Finally. April 10, 2009

I am not sure if it is every hunter’s dream, but it was certainly a goal of mine since the release of the expansion. Only once have I come close to taming this very Rare elite Spirit Beast that spawns in Sholozar Basin every 6 to 8 hours.
After spending hundreds of gold on respecs (BM <> Survival), I had all but given up. For some reason today, as I worked from home, I felt compelled to get my hunter to SB and check out a few common locations (see the link above for info about these). The first one I check (72, 70) was the right one.

Isn't it a thing of (beasty) beauty?
Tip: if you try to tame it, do stand on top of your trap and not behind it. Loque’nahak will jump at you and may not trigger the trap if you dropped it too far.
Very happy hunter here
Brutallus is down. Finally!!!! September 22, 2008

Wow, just wow. It took us the best part of a couple of months of effort – with interruptions due to the vacation season and an usual issue of attendance of our core raiders – in order to finally kill Brutallus. The mechanics of the encounter itself are not that difficult, but it is unbelievably hard to execute perfectly. With just 6 minutes to go through Brut’s 10M health points, there is no margin for error. We had brought him down to 2% a few times, then 1%, always missing 10 seconds of full raid dps to finish him. Finally, at the very last attempt of last night’s raid, we did it. He died a few seconds after the enrage timer kicked in. Onto Felmyst now…
In case you want to congratulate us, here is the link to the post in our forums

Here are a few videos of combat in EPL and WPL. The first one shows some combat against melee and caster mobs, the second how easily a DK can take on an elite mob, and the third shows the summoning of a ghoul from a dead human mob.

At the end of a busy Saturday I decided to give a go at creating a Death Knight. Ever since I heard about this hero class, I had been tempted by the mix of tanking, dps’ing and facemelting casters in PVP. I can only say that the current implementation – before the most probable incoming nerf – is fulfilling my expectations. For now I have concentrated on the DPS talent tree, Blood, which offers a mix of dps, tanking and passive healing abilities. So far it’s been ideal for going through the Death Knight startup which is fairly easy but for a couple of quests. These series of quests is meant to help you discover your talents, and gear your Death Knight up with in full dungeon blues.
The game play so far is very similar to a Retribution paladin, where you apply a buff/debuff, apply physical damage to the mob and every now and then cast a spell producing instant or over time damage.
Here are a few pictures of the DK starting area, I will add more as I take them in combat or other situations.
- Quest givers are actual scourge raid bosses
- Death Knight gear and blood talents
- Undead mount
- After summoning a Death Gate
- Death Knight on his Death Charger

Great surprise last night as I was logging out after we raided BT: an invitation to beta of Wrath of the Lich King. It took the whole night to download the 1.8GB file, and then more time this morning to install the whole lot. In the meantime, I copied Erbodie (and my paly Erbkaya) so that I can login and start exploring Northrend.
Here are the few of pics:
- Stormwind Harbor

- Before arriving to Valiance Keep
- Valiance Keep
Will report more as I find time to play a bit. And by play, I mean login, play a bit, and see the client crash or get kicked out by the server – which crashes a lot as well. Very early beta indeed.
First thing I noticed is that respec’s only cost 1 copper. I hope that this price makes it into the final version.
Just tamed Sian Rotam! January 25, 2008

You know – at least you should know – I am a sucker for rare pets, and I missed the opportunity to tame a ghost wolf before Blizzard made them untameable (as they did for the uber cool Amani bear from Zul’Aman).Yesterday, as Erbkaya my paly was questing in Winterspring, I discovered a quest chain that led to the killing of Shy-Rotam. This used to be a Horde-only quest, and apparently Patch 2.3 made it available to us Alliance players. So I went back today on Erbodie, got the quest, and tamed Sian-Rotam after killing Shy. As a 70 it was obviously trivial (at 58, my paly did have a bit of fun with these two level 60s), but you get fearead every now and then so you have to time your trap and taming right. It is really a nice pet, which is going to take the spot of Ghosty, my ghost saber. I got him to level 66 after taming him at 19 (!!!). Unfortunately I need a raid pet (Ravager) and a PVP pet (Warp Stalker) so I only have one slot for a “decoration” pet.And now I need to level him to 70. Argh.
Down with Lady Vashj December 4, 2007

My guild killed her a few weeks ago but I finally got the opportunity to get to Lady Vashj and kill her. It took us something like 9 tries to put her down, and there were quite a few casualties at the end of Phase 3 when we got her. I could loot the first part of the attunment quest to Mount Hyjal, but I still have to kill Kael’Thas in Tempest Keep. Hopefully in the days to come. I took my own pic of the kill. Not as nice as this one memorizing the first kill by the guild, but still. Vashj down for the count!

Last night, our guild worked on Kael’Thas for a couple of hours, and rather than clearing trash again after it repopped, gathered the entire guild to one shot Doom Walker and Doom Lord Kazzak for the first ever attempt on these two bosses. The picture below was taken as we were all flying above DoomWalker (at the entrance of the Black Temple). It would be fun if Blizzard could actually give us a boss that has to be fought from the air.

It is up and running since yesterday. Running – sort of – since Blizzard is already making a hot fix of it and took the realms down this morning for 2 hours. What is good? Lots of things! Here are the official patch notes, and the undocumented changes (yet). What do I like in Patch 2.3:
Bonus: the Epic Engineering Flying Mount – with me riding it
. Update: Two disappointments I can report – we hunters can no longer double trap, and the awesome looking Amani bear is no longer tameable. Sooo sad.
