At the end of a busy Saturday I decided to give a go at creating a Death Knight. Ever since I heard about this hero class, I had been tempted by the mix of tanking, dps’ing and facemelting casters in PVP. I can only say that the current implementation – before the most probable incoming nerf – is fulfilling my expectations. For now I have concentrated on the DPS talent tree, Blood, which offers a mix of dps, tanking and passive healing abilities. So far it’s been ideal for going through the Death Knight startup which is fairly easy but for a couple of quests. These series of quests is meant to help you discover your talents, and gear your Death Knight up with in full dungeon blues.

The game play so far is very similar to a Retribution paladin, where you apply a buff/debuff, apply physical damage to the mob and every now and then cast a spell producing instant or over time damage.

Here are a few pictures of the DK starting area, I will add more as I take them in combat or other situations.

Last night, our guild worked on Kael’Thas for a couple of hours, and rather than clearing trash again after it repopped, gathered the entire guild to one shot Doom Walker and Doom Lord Kazzak for the first ever attempt on these two bosses. The picture below was taken as we were all flying above DoomWalker (at the entrance of the Black Temple). It would be fun if Blizzard could actually give us a boss that has to be fought from the air.Aerial attack above DoomWalker

For some time now, I have felt that my main profession Blacksmith (Axesmith) had become pretty useless. Besides the random Sharpening stone I am crafting every now and then, daily quests have been the primary source of income for Erbodie for some time. Only when I was trying to amass enough gold for my epic flying mount did I craft weapons selling for 100Gs or so.

I recently picked up Legacy in Karazhan (better late than never) which means that I no longer have to stick to Axesmith which is mandatory to use Mooncleaver. At this juncture, Alchemy would be the most useful profession since we keep on chugging potions, elixirs and other pots in SSC and TK. However my guild has a number of alchemists who are nice enough to craft what I need every week or so, so that is good enough.

Engineering has been a profession that I have never leveled, but have really started to appreciate on my BE paly. Low level paladins don’t have any ranged capacity, and I have been using dynamite as a fairly crude but efficient way of pulling mobs. Erbodie hopefully does not have that issue, but there have been a few engineering items that have grabbed my attention:

What is now throwing me over the fence is 1) Blizzard has communicated that Engineering would receive some overdue Engineering love, and 2) the Engineering flying mount I saw for the first time on the PTR. Just check this out:

So this week, I am dropping Blacksmithing after having crafted a few pieces of armor for my warrior, and going full steam on Engineering leveling.
